My husband is listening to The Total Money Makeover!

Thursday 29thJuly 2021 Bob was cooking supper today and when I walked into the kitchen, he was listening to The Total Money Makeover. This is just too exciting! I have been asked Bob to read / listen to the book for the last seven months. I asked him how it was going, and he replied, ‘It makes sense.’ Praying that Bob will complete the book, praying for the positive changes to come, praying and believing that we will be on…

Someone has eaten all the food!

Someone has eaten all the food!

Wednesday 28th July 2021 We did a weekly grocery shop at the weekend and the food has all gone! It’s only Wednesday! Thankfully we have cereal, bread & cheese left for lunch and evening meals planned but that’s it! Does anyone else have this problem? I have one husband and we have a daughter who is 12 years old and ALWAYS hungry… I have a horrible feeling that I was like that at her age!  All the yummy snacks have…

Credit Card 1 = clear!

Credit Card 1 = clear!

Monday 26th July 2021 Today is pay day – always a good day! As we both work for the same school, we get paid the same day, which is great. Completely unplanned and unscheduled, we both sat down at the dining room table and got the laptops out. Moments later, we had reviewed the budget that we completed last week and cleared Credit Card 1. I was happy, I think Bob was too but he didn’t really show it. Sometimes,…

Our total debt is $18,348

Our total debt is $18,348

Saturday 24th July 2021 Bob still wasn’t keen to reveal our total debt, so I basically kept bothering him to find out. Not ideal I know. Here’s what he, begrudgingly, told me: Credit Card 1  $384 Credit Card 2  $1330 Car Loan $16,634 Total:  $18,348 I was totally calm, didn’t fly off the handle and told him that it’s not horrendous and we could use our Florida savings ($23,372) to clear that all off. He totally wasn’t happy about that…

Our total debt is ?

Our total debt is ?

Friday 23rd July 2021 Today I asked Bob to let me know how much debt we are in. Credit Card 1, Credit Card 2 and the car loan, then we can follow the debt snowball plan. He says that the debt is his responsibility and he’s not keen to disclose the information. I told him that we are a team and we can get rid of this debt quicker if we are both focused on it. He mumbled something about,…

Budget Breakfast

Budget Breakfast

Thursday 22ndJuly 2021 This morning, I took the family out for a light breakfast (coffee and pastry). It was a great opportunity to discuss our budget as a family. I had suggested this on Wednesday, so it wasn’t a surprise to either of them.  It was great! Bob had a good look at the ‘Every Dollar App’ and inputted some of the data. Better still, when he when shopping later that day – he kept to the list and paid…

Know Yourself Money Assessment

Know Yourself Money Assessment

Wednesday 21stJuly 2021 Hello, and welcome to Day 2 of Money and Marriage.  In this blog, I share with you how I am trying to persuade my husband to open his eyes to our finances and get on the same page!  Earlier this week, we watched Rachel Cruze and Dr John Malony in their ‘Marriage and Money’ LiveStream – although we didn’t watch it live because we live in East Africa, and it was 3:30am here! So we watched it…

Money and Marriage

Money and Marriage

Sunday 18thJuly 2021 Today, I am super excited.  Last night my husband and I watched the replay ‘Marriage and Money’ with Rachel Cruze and Dr John Delony. Number 1 it’s huge that we actually sat down together to watch this and Number 2, we actually talked about joint bank accounts… this is massive! Bob and I have been married for nearly 18 years (our anniversary is less than a month away), we had a joint bank account at the beginning,…
