False Economies to Avoid

False Economies to Avoid

As bills continue to rise, we are certainly tightening our belts and I’m sure we’re not the only ones. With the energy price cap increasing, inflation reporting to increase to 20% next year and food prices rising, it’s tempting to bin the budget but don’t! Here are a few false economies to avoid. I believe Autumn 2023 will be the start of a financial crisis for many people. As costs of energy and food rising, you may be tempted to…

Meaningful Academy – Financial Foundations

Meaningful Academy – Financial Foundations

Back in September I was super excited to receive an email from Pete Matthew, founder of Meaningful Academy, gifting me a Foundations Level membership of Meaningful Academy. As many of you may know, my husband Bob, is most reluctant when it comes to talking about money. He grew up in a home where money wasn’t talked about, plus he suffers from depression, so feels that he’s not worthy of money. It also doesn’t help that he’s a spender (Apple /…

Borrowed Future – A review

Borrowed Future – A review

Ramsey Solutions has released its first documentary and it’s POWERFUL. I watched it by myself yesterday and I though it was so good that I got the family together to that they could watch it too! We all know that student loans are out there and they are considered ‘normal’. I know that in both the UK and the US, you can take out student loans, however, I didn’t realize that the student loans in the US can be crippling…

Our total debt is $18,348

Saturday 24th July 2021 Bob still wasn’t keen to reveal our total debt, so I basically kept bothering him to find out. Not ideal I know. Here’s what he, begrudgingly, told me: Credit Card 1  $384 Credit Card 2  $1330 Car Loan $16,634 Total:  $18,348 I was totally calm, didn’t fly off the handle and told him that it’s not horrendous and we could use our Florida savings ($23,372) to clear that all off. He totally wasn’t happy about that…

Our total debt is ?

Our total debt is ?

Friday 23rd July 2021 Today I asked Bob to let me know how much debt we are in. Credit Card 1, Credit Card 2 and the car loan, then we can follow the debt snowball plan. He says that the debt is his responsibility and he’s not keen to disclose the information. I told him that we are a team and we can get rid of this debt quicker if we are both focused on it. He mumbled something about,…
